Cultural Vistas Program Fees- Cultural Vistas is the recommended agent for internship searches in Germany. This fee includes a non-refundable $75 application fee. Applications are reviewed only after the application fee has been received.

Compensation varies by industry and will either be approximately EUR 200–600 per month, or approximately EUR 100–200 per month plus free housing. Much like in the United States, internships in technical fields are generally paid, while internships for those with a liberal arts background tend to be unpaid. A limited number of scholarships are available through the Cultural Vistas Scholarship Fund, for qualified participants.

Tuition-
Student exchange agreements between the U of A and foreign institutions stipulate that outbound U of A students pay for 15 hours of U of A tuition & on campus fees during their term abroad. Students are charged according to their major/college tuition rates. Students enroll in courses at a foreign institution.

Students spending a year in Germany with the IEP program will pay tuition for the Fall term only, during the term they are enrolled in courses at TUD. For the Spring Term, students will enroll in Engineering Co-op credit.

Airfare-
Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.

Meals-
This budget assumes a $150/week budget for food. Depending on the student's housing choices and personal habits, this can be highly variable.

Books-
Books, supplies & supplemental course fees can vary widely by academic program and destination.

Personal Expenses-
Personal spending habits vary greatly. Students should budget for personal travel and activities, laundry and toiletry items, and other necessities.

Room & Board-
Students studying abroad through Exchange partner schools will be largely independent during their semester abroad. Students are solely responsible for obtaining housing and are liable for 100% of housing expenses. Exchange institutions provide on-campus housing, or references for students to secure housing through recommended student coops, homestay families, or other private options. Availability varies by destination, but students can always refer to recommendations provided by the host institution.

Health Insurance-Evidence of adequate health insurance is required to obtain a German Residence Permit (Aufenthaltsbewilligung). The cost of Statutory Health insurance in Germany is about €80 per month. This coverage guarantees payment through the public insurance scheme in Germany, allowing students to avoid pre-paying for services and seeking reimbursement.

All students will also be enrolled in the University International Health Plan. This figure assumes 5 months of coverage from the University of Arkansas provider, Cultural Insurance (CISI). The study abroad office will enroll students in this plan and provide proof of coverage. All travelers should maintain their regular US coverage while abroad.

Visa-
Most students apply for a German visa upon arrival in Germany (depending on the student's nationality). The University of Arkansas can provide students with a confirmation of enrollment and a summary of financial aid to supplement their applications.

Passport-
$165 is the approximate total cost of a new passport. Immigration requirements for most study abroad destinations require that a student's passport be valid for at least 6 months AFTER the conclusion of their study abroad program. Expediting a passport application can be more expensive.

Immunization-
The Office of Study Abroad recommends all students to the Pat Walker Health Center Immunization & Travel Clinic. Students can review travel recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and confirm that they are up to date on all required or recommended vaccinations. Contact the Travel Clinic at 479-575-7723.

Local Transportation-
Students are assessed a one-time student fee at Darmstadt, which covers a student transport card for all local and regional public transportation in Darmstadt and the state of Hessen.
