Program Description:

Arcadia-Stirling Summer Banner
Unique campus in a pastoral setting with a loch and an 18th Century Castle

If you are looking for a summer at a truly inspirational, scenic campus with excellent student satisfaction ratings and top academics then the University of Stirling could be for you. It boasts a 310-acre park-like location which is surrounded by the Trossachs Hills, the setting for the movie Rob Roy, and encompasses Airthrey Loch and Airthrey Castle. It is a modern university though, built in 1967, and is only a short bus ride away from the town of Stirling, known as the heart of Scotland.

Study Abroad at Stirling International Summer School allows you to study side-by-side with other international students in an incomparably beautiful area of Scotland. Choose from two program blocks with the opportunity to enroll in a wide variety of areas including Education, Data, Philosophy, Photography, Religion, Journalism, Film and Media Studies, History, Literature, Sports Management, International Relations, Gender Studies, Politics, and more. This unique International Summer School incorporates Scottish themes into its range of modules and a full program of co-curricular components will round out your academic experience, including Scotland on the Screen and Scottish History: The Jacobites, among others.

  • Taught in two, four-week blocks, you may enroll in one or both blocks. You will enroll in two courses for one block and may enroll in one or two for the second. Each course is worth 2.5 credits, so you will earn a total of 5-10 credits for the program.

  • Named as Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence, Stirling has outstanding sports facilities and offers courses in sports studies and exercise science.

  • University of Stirling provides a full orientation program, which includes a campus tour, a bus tour of Stirling and the surrounding area, as well as an introduction to library and computing facilities. In addition to the welcome and farewell events, a number of other social activities are planned including a Scottish ceilidh.

  • Travel to fascinating places of interest that enhance your cultural immersion and give a meaningful context to your academic courses, through Arcadia's planned Excursions and Activities.

  • Learn more about our Arcadia in Edinburgh Center, which will provide support and excursion for you during your time at the University of Stirling.
