Program Description:

Arcadia - U of Aberdeen
One of Scotland's premier institutions, founded in 1495

Picture yourself off the beaten track in northeast Scotland, in the country's third-largest city, surrounded by breathtaking scenery and accompanied by 13,000 other eager students, all looking for a distinctive experience, rigorous academics, and the great outdoors.

Founded in 1495, the University of Aberdeen is one of Scotland's premier teaching and research institutions and has been a center of excellence for five centuries. The University conducts internationally significant research across a variety of fields including medicine, oil exploration and technology, marine and fisheries science, environmental management and planning, biological sciences, and Scottish and Irish studies. The university is ranked internationally in many subjects. Aberdeen offers courses across twelve different schools and Arcadia Abroad students can choose from a wide variety of offerings.

  • You'll find everything from animal health and welfare to sports and leisure management, as well as courses in Scottish history and culture. Philosophy, English, Celtic and divinity studies are also popular course choices.

  • There is a strong emphasis on STEM subjects such as biosciences, engineering, environmental science, and hydrocarbon/renewable energy studies linked to the North Sea oil reserves.

  • The recently renovated library is one of the world's "Must See" libraries, offering seven stories of material and incredible views of the city and the North Sea.

  • The university is located on the outskirts of the city and retains the feel of a small village with a congenial student body.

  • One £250 scholarship is available each semester to students in Arcadia’s program at the University of Aberdeen. Recipients of this award will be expected to complete a co-curricular project based in the northeast of Scotland. For more information, please contact your Program Manager.

  • Travel to fascinating places of interest that enhance your cultural immersion and give a meaningful context to your academic courses, through Arcadia's planned excursions and activities.
