The Eastern Mediterranean has historically been the crossroads of civilizations, religions, ideas, and trade between Europe, Asia, Africa, East and West, Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. The region has been instrumental in the evolution of our societies, and developments in the region affect the entire world order.

The University of Nicosia has deep expertise in issues pertinent to the region, and the island is an ideal living laboratory in which to study complex international relations issues, including peace and conflict studies, nationalism and identity politics, and energy security.
