Spend your summer living and learning in Scotland’s historic capital, Edinburgh! Designed for students from all academic backgrounds, the Summer in Edinburgh program is the perfect chance to earn credits toward your degree while immersing yourself in Scottish culture.
Throughout the program, you’ll have the choice of rounding out your academics with optional credit-bearing internships or volunteer opportunities to participate actively in Edinburgh’s local community. Outside the classroom, you'll have every opportunity to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities and off-the-beaten-path trips organized by CIEE to appreciate Scotland’s impressive cultural attractions and landmarks. You won’t want to miss this exciting international summer adventure!
Go on a guided tour of Edinburgh Castle, an iconic symbol of Scotland's history perched atop Castle Rock, offering panoramic city views and housing the Honours of Scotland – the oldest Crown jewels in Britain
Take a walking tour of the Royal Mile, a historic thoroughfare lined with traditional shops, cafes, and historic sites, like St. Giles' Cathedral
Go on a guided tour underground to visit the Real Mary King's Close, a well-preserved underground ‘close’ or street in the Old Town, offering a fascinating glimpse into 17th-century life in Edinburgh
Hike up Arthur's Seat, an ancient volcano and hill located in Holyrood Park that offers superb walks and stunning views over the city
Explore the Royal Yacht Britannia, a magnificent ship that serves as a museum where visitors can explore the State Apartments, Crew's Quarters, and Engine Room, providing a unique glimpse into the royal life at sea
Journey to the beautiful Scottish Highlands to soak up Scotland’s stunning landscapes, breathtaking nature, and rich history
Take day trips to explore the Highlands, Castle of Stirling, Trossachs National Park, Loch Ness, Loch Lomond, Oban, Glencoe, and many more impressive locations across Scotland
